Professor Michael Georgiadis

Professor Michael Georgiadis leads the Process and Energy Systems Engineering Laboratory in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He received both his M.Sc. (1995) and Ph.D. (1998) in Process Systems Engineering from Imperial College London. He is the recipient of a U.S. Fulbright Scholarship (2019), served as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University, China (2018–2023), and was an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Imperial College London (2015–2022).

His research interests span a broad range of PSE topics, including energy systems and markets optimization, production scheduling and planning, supply chain modelling and optimization, and multiscale process modelling, simulation, and optimization. He has co-authored more than 160 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, contributed 30 book chapters, and participated in over 150 international refereed conferences. He has an h-index of 56, and his work has received more than 9,200 citations according to Google Scholar (June 2026). He is co-editor of a seven-volume series on Process Systems Engineering published by Wiley-VCH, as well as co-editor of two books on the Integration of Process Design and Control (Elsevier) and Energy Systems Engineering (Springer). His research has been supported by a wide range of funding organisations, including the European Union and numerous industrial partners.
